2006 Financial Assistance Program for Producers in Targeted States
The Risk Management Education Division has received several inquiries regarding Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) for 2006 - the following information has been provided to us by the Reinsurance Services Division of RMA which oversees the (AMA) program:
The 2006 Ag Appropriations Bill reduced the funding for the Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) program from $20 million to $6 million. In prior years, (AMA) was operated jointly by the Risk Management Agency (RMA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). However, in light of this reduced funding, a decision has been made by USDA to allocate the 2006 funding to NRCS and AMS. Therefore, RMA will not offer the (AMA) additional subsidy program for 2006.
Financial assistance will NOT be available in 2006 for the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.
